There was a time when every visit I made to the Gurudwara carried a list of wishes.
I would stand with folded hands and silently ask Waheguru for so many things—happiness, success, peace of mind, good health, and countless other blessings.
It was almost like visiting a divine shop where I hoped my prayers would be “answered” with the things I wanted.
I believed that prayer was about asking. I thought the more sincere my request, the faster it would be fulfilled.
But life, with Waheguru's grace, has a beautiful way of teaching us deeper truths.
When Understanding Comes, Everything Changes
With time, experiences, and the silent pull of Waheguru’s love, I began to realize something powerful:
Everything happening in my life was not according to my plans or wishes — it was happening according to His Hukam (divine will).
When this understanding settled in my heart, my entire approach to ardaas (prayer) transformed.
I no longer stood before Waheguru just to ask for things.
Instead, I found myself bowing down simply to say:
"Thank You."
Not because everything in my life was perfect, but because everything in my life was happening exactly as it was meant to be.
Gratitude in Every Breath, Every Step
Today, my ardaas is simple.
I don't carry a list of requests anymore.
Instead, I carry a heart full of gratitude.
Every breath I take, every moment I live, every turn my life takes — whether joyful or painful —
I accept it as His will (Bhane Vich Bhana).
“Tera bhana meetha laage.”
(Your will is sweet to me, O Waheguru.)
Whatever I receive, whatever I lose, whatever paths open or close —
I know it is all a part of a divine plan much greater and wiser than my limited understanding.
The Power of True Shukrana (Gratitude)
In a world where everyone is constantly asking for more — more wealth, more happiness, more success —
learning to say "Thank You" without asking for anything is a rare and powerful blessing.
-
Gratitude transforms complaints into acceptance.
-
Gratitude transforms fear into faith.
-
Gratitude transforms scarcity into abundance.
When we stop asking and start thanking, we begin to experience Waheguru’s presence in every moment.
We start to see every challenge as an opportunity.
Every delay as divine protection.
Every loss as hidden grace.
Why Shukrana Is the Highest Form of Prayer
When we say "Thank You" to Waheguru without attaching any conditions or expectations,
we are truly surrendering.
We are saying:
-
I trust You, Waheguru.
-
I know You are taking care of me, even when I don't understand.
-
I believe that Your plan is better than mine.
In that surrender, there is no fear, no anxiety, no disappointment—only peace.
That peace is the real sukh (happiness) we have been chasing all along.
The Heartfelt Realization
The world keeps asking for more.
But today, my heart has found peace in simply thanking the True King — Waheguru.
"Duniya mangdi rahi gayi, par mera dil hun sirf Tainu thanks karda hai, Sache Patshah."
Conclusion: A Message for Every Seeker
If you're feeling restless, anxious, or constantly searching for answers,
maybe it's time to change your prayer too.
Instead of asking, start thanking.
Thank Waheguru for what you have, and for what you don't have.
Thank Him for the answered prayers, and even for the ones that seem unanswered —
because they are answered in ways your soul, not your mind, understands.
When gratitude becomes your prayer, Waheguru's peace becomes your life.
